Works allocated to the Electrical Office :  

The electrical section of Department of Engineering Services provides electrical engineering consultancy service for new construction projects and renovation projects carried out by all sections of the Department. Designing of electrical systems, telecommunication systems and lightning protection systems, providing of drawings, preparation of bill of quantities/estimates, site inspection and bill recommendation for above mention projects are major duties of the electrical section.

Further to that following works are carried out by the electrical section

1. Preparation of rates for electrical items for annual BSR (Basic Schedule of Rates)
2. Electrical engineering consultancy for institution of Central Council and as well as for Central Government institutions when requested.
3. Being chairman/member for technical evaluation committees of Department and as well as the other institution of Central Provincial  Council when requested.
4. Undergraduate industrial training for undergraduate electrical designing students of Sri Lankan Universities.
5. Industrial training for draughtsman trainees.
6. Being the resource person for training programmes relevant to the electrical engineering field.
7. Other duties assigned by the Provincial Director (Engineering Services)
